The University of Wisconsin-Madison
Constructed a new Marshfield Dairy Replacement Heifer
Research Facility as part of the UW-Madison’s Integrated
Dairy Program.
Vierbicher Associates, Inc. served as
the State’s prime consultant and provided design and
construction administration services for dairy
replacement housing and research systems, feed and
bedding storage, feed processing, a machine shop, animal
waste storage and handling systems, and an office/animal
handling facility.
The new facility is located
approximately eight miles northeast of the City of
Marshfield, WI.
| Phase I had a
project budget of $1,800,000 and was completed in
2003. Phase I included: |
- Overall masterplan for the new
research farm
- 350-head, dairy replacement
heifer research barn
- 60-head, experimental ,
outdoor-mound housing facility
- 6,900 sq, ft. feed center
- 4,200 sq. ft. machine shop and
8,000 sq, ft. machine storage facility
- 3,900 sq. ft. office and
employee welfare area
- 1,400 sq. ft. animal hospital
- 2,700 sq. ft. transition calf

- 1,000,000 gallon liquid manure
