This continuing project involves the
construction of a recreational trail network through the
City of Tomah. The trails consist of a gravel surface
with portions asphalt paved.
Phases two, four, and five have been
completed with budgeting and prelimary layout work
underway for phase six.
Some unique project challenges
included streambank restoration and stabilization in
coordination with Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources (WDNR) staff. Also a 60-foot pedestrian
bridge was added to minimize wetland impacts.
Easements were acquired for the trail
corridor. Landowner recognition signs were installed
along the route.
The trail was funded in part by a WDNR
Local Park Aids Program Grant.
Vierbicher Associates provided
engineering services, landscape architecture, permitting
through WDNR and ACOE, wetland banking, bidding and
construction documents, and construction administration. |
