This Project involves development of
an 80-acre Business Park at the interchange of STH 29
and STH 107 in the Village of Marathon City.
A significant challenge for this
project was the initial cost of extending sanitary sewer
and water service to the site. The project was only
financially feasible if done in conjunction with private
development and by using public financial assistance
programs.
The Village constructed phase one of
the Business Park in 2003. The Village received a
commitment from MaraTech International to construct a
new manufacturing facility in the park. This
commitment, plus the use of tax incremental financing
and infrastructure grants made it feasible for the
project to move ahead.
Development of Marathon City’s
Business Park project included: feasibility study,
environmental assessments, annexation, rezoning, land
acquisition, creation of a Tax Incremental District,
creation of a Redevelopment District, applications for a
CDBG-PFED and WDOT TEA grants, business recruitment,
development agreements, Development Covenants, and
infrastructure construction.
Vierbicher Associates is providing
engineering, community development, surveying, and
environmental services for the project. |
