Regent Street/South Campus Redevelopment Plan
Regent Street/South Campus Redevelopment Plan

The Regent Street-South Campus neighborhood is a diverse and multifaceted area with a unique vibrancy amongst Madison’s neighborhoods. The continual activity of the UW campus, beautiful old housing stock in the Vilas Neighborhood, and nearby amenities make this area and exciting place to live, work, and visit. As continued pressure of redevelopment and increased urbanization encroach this area, public interest and City involvement are increasing.

Primary objectives of this plan and process are:

  • Land use and physical design issues
  • Guide development of a complete and sustainable neighborhood
  • Address transportation issues, especially bicycle, pedestrian, and transit
  • Consider functional and aesthetic relationships
  • Develop strategies for business retention and attraction

The process for this project was one that included a thorough analysis of existing conditions and reports, development of alternative plans and concepts, making specific final recommendations, and then developing a summary document of the entire process and final outcomes.
