In the Community

One of Vierbicher’s strategic initiatives is to “Think Globally and Contribute Locally”. We are in the business of improving communities and quality of life, and we certainly couldn’t “talk the talk” without “walking the walk”. Our employees are active participants in their own communities and spend countless hours of their time volunteering to make a difference. You’ll find us serving as elected officials, on boards for local organizations, cleaning up creeks and riverbeds, building houses, planting rain gardens, organizing fund raisers, and participating in any way we can to improve our communities and the lives of people around us.

As a company, we are honored to be able to partner with some of the most influential organizations, businesses and communities in the region, and are committed to supporting and working with them to make a difference right here at home. The following are only a few examples of the many ways that Vierbicher participates in and contributes to the local quality of life.

Job Shadow Program

Vierbicher has a history of hosting area students to share information about careers in Engineering, Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Surveying. Activities range from group projects where students are assigned a project and they work to develop a project design, budget, and prepare a client presentation to technical demonstrations of equipment and accompanying a staff member on their daily activities.

Reedsburg Area High School Scholarship

Two RAHS students receive a scholarship each year to pursue an education in engineering or other design-related professions. An independent review committee selects the recipients based on scholastic achievement, community involvement, leadership qualities, and communication skills.

Reedsburg Area United Fund Radio Auction

The United Fund Radio Auction is a long standing tradition in the Reedsburg area where businesses and individuals donate items that sold in a live radio auction. The bidding gets quite spirited when friendly rivalries are resurrected for some of Tracy Mathews’ Monkey Bread! Vierbicher employees have been known to pool their money and get in on the action and support a great cause.

American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life

Vierbicher has been proud to sponsor teams in the Reedsburg Relay For Life Event.

Reedsburg Area Helping Hands

Reedsburg Area Helping Hands is a community outreach project where the main goal is to provide a brighter Christmas to families who would otherwise be unable to celebrate the holiday. Paper mittens are placed at area businesses, churches, and other organizations. Each mitten lists a gift or food item that you can purchase and return to the site. Vierbicher employees support this cause by hosting breakfast and lunch events where the proceeds of the event are pooled towards fulfilling the requests on the mittens.

Vierbicher Employees Build A Home (VEBAH)

In 2007, Vierbicher employees initiated a program to contribute to local communities via the Habitat for Humanity of Dane County not-for-profit organization. This initiative, titled VEBAH (Vierbicher Employees Build a Home), raised $5,000 in 2007 in funding through the Madison Marathon.

Community Rain Gardens

In 2008, Vierbicher employees assisted with the planning and implementation of two rain gardens in the Dane County area. One for Boy Scouts of America Glacier Council and the other for Verona Core Knowledge Charter School.
