Project Description

Following a 2013 storm that caused substantial flooding and property damage after dropping 10.31“ of rain, we assisted the City of Prairie du Chien develop a long-term solution for improving drainage and reducing the chances of future flooding.

The flood mitigation project involved the construction of two  new stormwater detention basins, a new by-pass outlet and improvements to the existing drainageway. Combined, the improvements will decrease the risk of flooding downstream.  An important part of the design was the installation of trash racks to catch debris that washes out of the watershed during large storm events.

Vierbicher also assisted the City secure a 70% grant from the DNR Municipal Flood Control Program to help fund the $661,500 project.
