The Wisconsin Division of Housing Announces 2016 CDBG Programs
The Wisconsin 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan, developed by the Department of Administration’s Division of Housing (DOH), details the Division of Housing’s overall strategy for addressing housing, community, and economic development needs. The Wisconsin 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan identified priorities and defines how the Division of Housing will distribute grant funds to local governments, including the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The DOH offers several CDBG programs to address the priority needs identified in the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan. These programs include:
- CDBG Planning Funds
- CDBG Economic Development Funds (CDBG – ED)
- CDBG Public Facility Funds (CDBG – PF)
- CDBG Public Facility – Economic Development Funds (CDBG – PFED)
- CDBG Affordable Housing Funds
- CDBG Rural Economic & Rural Development Initiative (CDBG – READI)
The CDBG – READI program is a proposed new program whose purpose is to provide targeted investment to address economic development, workforce housing and job training. The new program is still subject to HUD approval and will be rolled out when such approval is obtained.
The CDBG program has been an important funding tool for Wisconsin communities. Attached is a Vierbicher Public Funding Bulletin summarizing the 2016 CDBG programs.
