22 Dec Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Announces 2016 – 2020 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant Cycle
The WisDOT recently announced the upcoming application deadline for the 2016 – 2020 TAP program. The application deadline is January 29, 2016.
The Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) is a comprehensive federal funding category that was created as part of the new federal transportation bill (MAP-21). This was signed into law in July 2012 and was effective October 1, 2012. TAP incorporates the following three WisDOT multi-nodal transportation improvement programs:
- Safe Routes to School (SRTS)
- Transportation Enhancements (TE)
- Bicycle & Pedestrian Program (BPFP)
WisDOT previously administered these programs as three distinct federal funding categories. Under MAP-21, WisDOT will accept applications and select TAP projects in a single award cycle, thereby streamlining the application process. TAP will provide funding for 80% of the project cost with a 20% local match.
The upcoming funding cycle for the 2016—2020 TAP Program is as follows:
- Solicitation for Applications Posted: October 30, 2015
- Applications Deadline: January 29, 2016
- Grant Award Announcements: July or August 2016
