Kalahari Resorts is undertaking an $85 million expansion to its indoor waterpark in Wisconsin Dells—an addition that will double the size of the state’s largest indoor waterpark. The new 75,000-square-foot facility will be a glass-enclosed environment featuring a retractable roof by OpenAire, enabling guests to enjoy a bright, open, resort-style atmosphere year-round. Scheduled to open in Fall 2026, the expansion will introduce a variety of new attractions, including the Lost Lagoon spa whirlpool, Watering Hole zero-depth pool with tanning ledges, Adventure Bay activity areas, and The Grotto adult swim-up bar, further enhancing this premier family destination.
Coordinating the site and utility needs of a dynamic indoor/outdoor space requires extensive collaboration among the design and construction partners. Our team worked closely with OpenAire, architects, and builders to ensure the civil components seamlessly support the roof’s movement and performance, all while fitting within the resort’s existing footprint and guest circulation patterns.
Vierbicher provided comprehensive civil engineering and site design services to support the expansion, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, and utility coordination for the new facility. We assisted with permitting, integrated the new infrastructure into the existing resort campus, and ensured that site systems could accommodate both the scale of the addition and its unique operational needs. Our team also played a key role in construction coordination, working alongside Tri-North Builders, RG Huston, Cunningham Architects, and Kalahari Resorts to bring this complex waterpark expansion to life.
